The ECDA’s federal grant funding emphasizes the importance of community engagement to ensure meaningful impact. We are committed to engaging and collaborating with the community we serve. We aim to foster transparent communication, build trust, and ensure that community members have opportunities to participate in decision-making processes that affect them. Check out our initiatives and ways to get involved!
The Neighborhood Cookouts bring us to neighborhoods throughout Kankakee to connect with residents and share information about local community resources while providing opportunities for neighbors to meet neighbors. Each cookout helps us learn more about community needs and continue to build a thriving community together.
Save the date for our next Neighborhood Cookout on Saturday, May 30, 2026!!
Join us on the grounds of the Bill Spriggs Civic Auditorium from 1pm to 4pm for fun, food, and fellowship with your fellow neighbors!
We'll have live music from the Champagne Experience, games for kids, and more! Resources will be available from several community agencies including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Childcare Resource and Referral, Clove Alliance, Garden of Prayer Youth Center, Kankakee Area LGBTQ Network, Kankakee County Branch of the NAACP, Kankakee Public Library, Kankakee School District, I-KAN ROE Life Education Center, Our Aging Services, Spanish Community Center, the Immigration Project, and blood pressure checks from Riverside.
Stay tuned for more details.
